Since its creation in 1944, the International Monetary Fund has developed a distinctive institutional language reflecting its evolving facilities, initiatives, operations, and policy frameworks. As its work has expanded across regions, sectors, and policy areas, the IMF has developed terminology that is recognized and used by policymakers, economists, and practitioners around the world. This special edition brings together IMF-specific terms and related acronyms, providing a practical reference for users of languages other than English, including subject-matter experts, translators, interpreters, and the general public. Prepared by the Language Services Division of the IMF's Corporate Services and Facilities Department, the bulletin is produced on the occasion of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok, Thailand.
